Maintenance Mechanics inspect motors and automotive parts to locate defective components using hand tools and gauges. They may start motors and monitor performance for signs of malfunction, such as smoke, vibration or misfirings. They will replace and repair parts, as needed. ASE certification or equivalent is typically required, as is 1-2 years of hands-on experience.
